Synopsis and Schedule of Events

This program consists of (3) three classes,
each 45 minutes in duration.
Subjects covered will include:
- Inspection, maintenance, and safety relating to wire rope,
blocks, sheaves, and end connections.
- Inspection, maintenance, and application of loose gear
used in below the hook lifting devices.
- Proper use of sheave gauges and venier calipers in
determining, by inspection, further serviceability of
sheaves, grooved winch drums, and wire rope.
- Proper installation and inspection of swaged end
connections.
- Proper installation and inspection of poured zinc sockets
and resin sockets.
- Safe use and inspection criteria for web slings.
- Safe use and inspection of chain slings.
- Inspection criteria for blocks.

J. HENRY HOLLAND'S INSTRUCTOR
Jim Tucker
Jim has over 25 years of experience in cargo handling winches,
cranes, booms, and below the hook rigging. Jim has
provided training, testing, and inspection for the above
mentioned material on various ships and shore facilities.
He has been classed as a Master Training Specialist and has
strongly participated in Naval classroom instruction dealing
with material handling. He has conducted surveys on cargo
and rigging equipment on all classes of ships of the US Navy
while a member of the Navy Insurv Team. He is recognized
and accredited by the Department of Labor (OSHA) to conduct
loose gear and wire rope certification inspections. Jim
serves as the Test Director, Safety Surveyor, and Material
Handling Instructor at J. Henry Holland Corporation. |
